The rest of the time in Italy was amazing. I absolutely loved Siena. We had a few down days there ad that was nice. I got jeans a coat and a shirt. We saw a bunch of beautiful churches and museums. For my birthday we took a day trip to a nearby town called San Giginomo. It was really neat walking through the old town and going to some of the museums. But I got to say the Torture Museum was the most interesting museum we have gone to on the whole trip and it was hard to keep my lunch down. Well anyways we had a really nice 5 course lunch and I had a pretty cool birthday. After our time in Siena we headed to Florence. I really liked it there. We went to many piazzas, museums, and churches. But my favorite was going to see the famous Statue of David. I was amazed when I walked in to see the enormous statue. I did some sketches of it in the really nice sketch book my dad got me for a b-day present. I ended up getting some really nice Italian boots before we left. In Florence we did a lot of wandering around and we found some really nice shopping stores and a clothes market. On our last day in Florence we took a day trip to Pisa and saw the amazing leaning tower of Pisa. If you go there you can’t leave without climbing to the top of it. It was kind of hard to climb it and it made me sort of sick but it was completely worth it. We saw the buildings and museums around the tower then went back to the hotel and the next day got on a train to Venice. Venice was definitely one of my favorite places in Italy. We happened to come during Carnivale so everyone was dressed up, wearing masks, and partying. It was all very exciting. I ended up getting a red and gold mask. Also what is really neat about Venice is that it really is a city on water. All of the streets are water canals that you take your boat right up to your front door. I have to admit that it is really neat. We saw a few museums including Academia but didn’t get to see the Guggenheim museum which was sad. We also saw a bunch of churches all beautiful. To make things even better we and a really nice, spacious, apartment that made everyone happy. I was sad to leave Venice but Carnivale had ended and it was time to move on so we got on a train and headed to Zagreb, Croatia. We were off to a different country.
The train ride to Zagreb was terribly uncomfortable but we were lucky to have made it on the train since we didn’t purchase our tickets 2 hours beforehand. We stayed in Zagreb for two days. We found out that Croatian food is amazing! In Zagreb we went to see the Chagall museum of art and I loved it. The church we went to was absolutely beautiful and the museum was neat. We did a lot of walking around there but that’s basically what you are supposed to do. The city was really neat. After Zagreb we headed down to Split and that was the one of the worst nights on this trip. The sleeper cart we got was hot and it smelt and I had to share this little bed with a sister who was hitting me all night and took up the whole bed. In Split we got a little apartment that smelt kind of bad. We did a lot of walking around in Split and it was beautiful because it was right on the ocean. I was so happy when my dad got me a Cosmo Girl magazine because I miss getting them and it made me feel more at home. The old town was really neat because the people still live in it even though it s from ancient times. After the 2 days in Split we headed to the beautiful Dubrovnik. This was my favorite place in Croatia. But that wasn’t the first impression I got when we got there off the bus. This is because we got a cheap little apartment that had no heating and no hot water. It was miserable. It was so unbearable that we had my mom go find us another apartment. It was more but it was beautiful. By far my favorite place we have stayed. A ocean view, basically my own room with bathroom, washing machine, flat screen TV, DVD player, and free internet! It was heaven! We extended our stay so we had a lot of down time there which was nice. Zagreb was beautiful and I loved the old town. I was amazed to learn that they were in a war less than 20 years ago. We went to churches, museums, and just walked around. Through the six days there we went to see four movies. They were The Feast of Love, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Beowulf, and Sweeney Todd. They were all pretty good movies. On our walks through the town we found some spectacular views of the ocean and one place was a little drink shop right on the cliff. O our seventh day we hopped on a bus to Split, then a overnight bus to Triste (Italy), a train to Venice, and finally we are on a train to Milan where hopefully we will make the train to Paris!
