Nimes to Bordeaux

After St. Tropez we headed to Nimes. On our way we stopped for lunch in the historic town, Avignon. The bridge there is part of a nursery rhyme that I actually had never heard of but the town was really neat. Parking was not too hard to find but it was a walled city so it was kind of confusing. After lunch we walked around a little then headed the rest of the way to Nimes. When we arrived it was getting late but we found a hotel that was in the book and stayed there for a good price. WE were all tired and fell asleep pretty quickly. I still wasn’t feeling well but I sucked it up because I knew we didn’t have much time. The next morning we walked to the Nimes Coliseum (one of the best preserved amphitheaters) and took an audio guided tour. I learned a lot about the gladiators like what types there were, which ones fought against which, and what they wore or used as a weapon or shield. After a quick lunch we headed back in the car to Pau. When we arrived we found a hotel and ten went out to dinner for Fondue (which I had never had before and now love)! The next day we saw a palace called Chateau which was amazing. I personally loved the tortes shell that was used as a cradle for the king. After lunch at a really good place that was recommended in the book, we headed to Biarritz. Biarritz was a pretty costal town that had some big surf that night when we got there. My dad wasn’t doing well so my mom, sister and I went to get info on renting surfboards and wetsuits. Then I went back to the room while they went to dinner. The next morning we wanted to surf but I didn’t want to be wet and sandy on the drive to Bordeaux since I wouldn’t get to shower so I wasn’t completely up for it. My sister wanted to so I went to check the surf and it was low tide which made the waves all mushy and irregular which wasn’t good. So we didn’t surf but instead got back in the car to finish our drive to Bordeaux. We found a room in a good location for a good price and then ate dinner at a fondue/Korean BBQ/Japanese food restaurant that was really good. Then we went back to hotel and all of us had a hard time sleeping and are all tired the next day. The next day we went to the Modern Art Museum that was interesting and I kind of liked but the rest of my family didn’t care for. That bummed me out that they didn’t enjoy it and understand the art of it. We also walked around and saw some monuments and then took the little train that gave us a tour of the things we basically walked to. But the lunch that day was awesome! It was at this little place where everyone everyday wait in a line outside to eat there. I really enjoyed it. It was a fun day.
