Chiang Mai

It was New Years Eve when we arrived in Chiang Mai. We got a shuttle to take us to our hotel The Royal Princess and it was nice. Right away I knew I liked Chiang Mai! When we got settled at the hotel y sister went straight to the pool with my dad and my mom and I went to go look around outside our hotel. When we walked out we were right in the middle of a market. It was so colorful and crowded. The night market booths we setting up. My mom and I went to 7-11 and got some drinks and snacks. We looked around a little and I got a pair of heels. They are so cute with triangle block heels and orange trim with 2 straps and beads. Again they are gorgeous! I also got a really pretty sarong that is maroon with gold elephants (a traditional Thailand skirt). We walked by a perfume shop and I asked how much a Ralf Lauren perfume was and she said 600 Baut. I was like never mind I am ok and then I bargained and got it for300 Baut! 10 U.S. dollars for a Ralf Lauren perfume AHHHHHHHHHH! Then we went back to the hotel to get ready for our hotel dinner and New Years Eve celebration. I wore my beautiful black with orange hibiscus dress with my awesome new shoes. It was a fun party and the food was O.K., but the fireworks were the best! There were fireworks everywhere you looked and they were about 50ft above our head! It was crazy! It was a nice New Years Eve but I still wished was with my friends though. The next day we went a bunch of beautiful temples and a museum. At one of the temples we went to a monk chat were we got to talk and ask a monk questions. I learned a lot about monks and Buddhism. One of the things I learned was that women could be monks too. I was glad I bought the sarong because I needed t to cover my legs when I went into the temples. When we got back to the hotel we ordered room service and went to bed. That was a fun filled day and I learned a lot! The next day my sister and dad were sick. My sister had something stuck in here eye and her eye ended up scratched and so she was in a lot of pain and so I knew we weren’t going to be doing much that day and I was right. I ended up on the computer almost all day except when I went with my mom to get Mexican food which we were craving and going out that evening to the Night Safari. My sister, mom, and I went and my dad stayed at the hotel. It was so cool! We saw a bunch of animals only a few feet away some actually came right up to the bus we were in. My favorite that we saw was the white tiger! We came back to the hotel and my mom and I went to pick up some dinner. We went to Duke’s and the ribs were awesome! Then we came back to go to sleep. The next day we went on a river cruise and that was nice. On the river cruise we went to this little place where we got to see a lot of native fruits, veggies, spices, and plants. I tried lemon grass juice and we got complementary fresh fruit which was delicious! Then when we got back to the hotel we went to find a food market that the guidebook recommended. We were looking everywhere and I told y parents that I knew where it was and they didn’t believe me and dragged me all around when finally they followed me and I took them to it. The food was great! We had a mix of everything! The whole time in Thailand I was begging for a Thai massage so since it was our last day they finally gave in and we all four got an amazingly painful massage. As Audrey would say, “It hurt so good!” LOL got to love you Audawy! I could barely move after but it felt good. We went to get ice cream after and then I came back with my dad to the hotel while my sis and mom went shopping. It was a fun and painful day. The next day we got on our plane and were off to India!

Happy Birthday, Aria!!! We hope you are having a fantastic birthday. Are you in Italy now? I'm missing your blogs (and your dad's and sister's too!)...I imagine you don't have internet access where you are.

Anyway, have a wonderful birthday. We all love you sooooo much.

Love,
Aunt Melanie, Uncle Tyrone, Natalie and Julia
